New Addition to the family!

Sage on the day we brought her home. She was 7 weeks old. She is German Shepard/Husky.

Here she is a couple of weeks ago. She doesn't sit still long in order to get a good pic. She is now 4 1/2 months old and a bundle of energy. Much to Bingo's dismay. Actually they have been getting along pretty good lately. At first he just wanted to pretend she didn't exhist. He wouldn't even look at her. It was so funny, he would just turn his head. But he will actually play with her now until he gets tired and he will just pin her down with his paw. She jumps all over him and chews on him. If he accidently steps on her and she yelps, he feels soo bad. Andrew calls him Uncle Bingo. I took some good pics of them together, yesterday. I'll post some when I get them off the camara
Love ya all!!

More Soap Box News

I forgot to mention the exciting part of the Soap Box Race. (At least for Andrew) The day before the race, during the practice runs, Andrew got side swiped by another driver. The girl going down the other lane with him, drove through the cones and hit Andrew's car behind the rear wheel. Andrew spin around about three times and ended up going backwards down the hill. We had to replace his wheels and straighten his axle. My heart skipped a beat or two, but Andrew thought it was fun! Luckily, there were no collisions on race day. And you thought the Indy 500 was exciting!

This is Andrew's second year driving this car. When he turns 14 in October, he is no longer eligible to drive in the stock division, so hopefully we'll get the Union to sponser him again in the Super Stock class. It's a bigger faster car. It also comes in a kit that he and Mark will build. Then we'll find a new driver for this car.

Laramie Tornados

Hi everyone,
If you haven't heard, there were 2 tornados that hit Laramie yesterday afternoor from the same thunder storms that caused the tornados in Windsor, Colorado. One of them went through or very close to my neighborhood. I didn't have much damage other than to stuff in my back porch (lawn furniture, dog kennel, etc.). There was some damage caused in town to Walmart, the Junior high school, cars and many roofs and fences. The golf course also took a hit and lost 20 or 30 mature trees (30 to 50 feet tall).
The power is out in part of the town (including my house) because I guess there were about 50 power lines that went down. Hopefully we'll get is back soon before all my food spoils. The power was out for most of the town until last night but we didn't lose power at my office at all. I haven't heard of any injuries here but it is quite a mess. I think it is the first tornado ever to hit Laramie, there have been a few small funnel clouds before but nothing that hit the town or caused any damage.
I just wanted to update everyone on what happened here last night.
Take care,
Rolf

Last weekend was the Soap Box Derby race here in Mount Vernon. Andrew did great! He finished out of the trophy round but drove really well, making it through several rounds before finally loosing out to the boy who eventually won the whole thing. It was a great race!

Here's Andrew with his car

Here he is heading down the hill.

Z&R-Still in Bangkok

We've had a busy two days here in Bangkok. Yesterday we spent 6 hours or so at the Largest weekend market in the world. Bought some things. People watched. Checked out a lot of stuff. Almost everything you could ever think of is at the market (except electronics). I had a rough time walking through the "pet area". We tried to avoid but kept ended up there a few different times. Came back to Khao San Road and our hotel. Had a few beers and people watched (definately one of our favorite pasttimes here).
We got a Thai massage. Interesting. You lay on the floor and they sit on you, knee you, bend you backwards, twist your arm, etc. Very nice. Not so much relaxing as it is stretching, etc.
Ryan tried on the suit he had tailored made. He said it was good quality. All I know is it looked nice. Navy blue. So then he bought 4 more and I bought one. Don't know when I will wear it but Ry said for that price I should go ahead and get one just in case. So today we will go and try on the jackets from the latest suits and make sure they look okay. Then the rest should be done in a few days. After the tailor, we walked around some more and got a foot massage. Very nice. It's our second foot massage (we got one in Kuala Lumpur too). They're Ry's favorite.
Today we went to the train station to book an overnight train to Chiang Mai on May 7th. Then we let the Tuk Tuk driver take us around the city. It is super cheap (the equivalent of about $0.60 for all day). The catch is that he takes you to numerous stores on the way and he gets compensated for us even just walking into the store. We didn't buy anything and after a few stops this got a little tiresome so we headed back to our hotel. Now we are going to grab lunvh, a beer, our books and an outside table and people watch for awhile.
Hopefully tomorrow we are headed to the Beach town of Hua Hin. We'll see.

Hope all is well. Thank you for your replies. I make sure Ry sees them too.

Z&R in Bangkok

Hey all. So we flew Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok today. I was a bit tired yesterday. KL is very dirty. Busy. Crazy. Ryan especially was hounded by every street vendor (I think cuz he's cute, American, and a guy maybe...maybe cuz he was with me and thought he'd buy me something...I don't know but got really old really fast). Honestly, I was glad to leave KL. Bangkok so far (we've only been here 3 hours) is amazing. Lot more white people so we are not singled out by the street vendors. We are on Khao San Road (THE backpackers alley in Bangkok). Got a pretty nice hotel room here. Nice corner room so we get a bit of a breeze. In all the hotels we've stayed at so far, the electrical outlets (air conditioning, lights, outlets etc) only work when we are there and put the key in a little box. Kind of cool for energy conservation (though I think the idea is conserving money for the hotels not energy but whatever) but not cool since the air conditioning only works when we are there. In our three hours here, we took an express bus, checked in to about the 10t hotel we saw and then proceeded out into Khao San Road. Looked at a couple shops and had a few beers. Nice night life, I think, it is still quite early.Ryan got to fly his helicopter yesterday. Already broke a tiny piece but fixed it with a twist tie. No bailing twine available had to make do.Ryan got a great haircut today (in KL) for $3. One of the best ever he said. Got a nice little massage after too. I read an Indian version of People magazine while I waited. Didn't understand much but the pictures were interesting.Things here are unbelievably cheap. It's tough when things are in the 100's of Bahts but after doing the conversion it's actually only $3 or so. Ryan lost a thumb war battle with a super cute 9 year old Thai girl selling roses. He ended up owing her 100 Baht and I got 5 roses. Ry's so sweet. By the way, he did know what he was getting in to but she was so damn cute :-)I think that is all for now. Little bit cooler here.Take care,Z&R
